You know how solar cells are only effective during the day? Guess what?
You can use them at night too…decades ago Einstein predicted that ionizing energy from the sun could be used to make electrons after it bounced off a substance.
The key here is ionizing energy…SO remember that Scotch Tape emitting Xrays in a vacuum…Xrays are ionized particles, therefore, you should be able to make it into a power source too, as you remove scotch tape over a solar cell in the dark, in a vacuum…

if you increase the width of the tape to 5 feet u should get more energy
Well I have no trouble using my solar cell calculator at night because my lights adequately power it, but I see your point in desiring free energy sources.
Perhaps you should consider taking a deeper interest into the physics of such a feat. Maybe you can find an actual means.
