wind generators?
I understand that if you have a wind generator it will automatically shut down in case of a power failure to prevent electrical shock to the power company repairmen.Does this mean if there is a huricane and the power was off for weeks you would not be able to use the generator to power your house during this time?
It is true, as it is with photoelectric solar systems.
Operating either system without power on the grid is not as simple as it might seem. Typically a wind-powered generator or a PV system is not designed to deliver the maximum load an occupancy might use. Therefore, it is necessary to shed load when the grid goes down. Conversely, at any given time the occupancy might be using less electricity than the generating system delivers. In such cases batteries are usually used, and arrangements made to reduce the generated output, or cycle it when the batteries need help.
